Soil Profiles and Septic Permits in Oklahoma

How a new system gets approved.

A soil test is required for most new systems and modifications. Only DEQ-certified soil profilers (who also hold qualifying professional credentials) or DEQ staff can perform it.
DEQ's soil profile test uses at least three holes or pits in the dispersal area to determine allowed system types.
An authorization to construct is issued before work begins.
The system must be installed by a DEQ-certified installer, who notifies DEQ before construction and files a final inspection form within ten working days.
